Youth Services
Recognizing the importance of teaching fly fishing skills to our youth, CFFU supports educational opportunities for our youth. Our volunteers sponsor events and provide demonstrations in fly casting, fly tying and fly fishing safety to the students in the classroom and at local fishing spots.

Fish in the ClassroomIn cooperation with the Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW), we participate in the Fish-in-the-Classroom (FITC) project. Each year our dedicated volunteers deliver Salmon and Steelhead eggs to approximately 50 classrooms in the greater Sacramento area. Although some schools have purchased their own, CFFU furnishes as many as 35 aquariums and related equipment to participating classrooms. When the 2-1/2 - 3-1/2 inch long fry are released into the rivers, CFFU volunteers often attend the event and provide demonstrations in fly casting, fly tying and fly fishing safety to the students. Your donations are appreciated.

Youth Fly Fishing Clinics
Recognizing the importance of teaching fly fishing skills to our youth, CFFU has a curriculum specially designed for education of a broad spectrum of young people. This fly fishing class may be taught over a period of one, two or more days, depending on the age group and the interest of the group and their counselors. All equipment and instruction is furnished by CFFU with no cost to the youth, however we require their guardians or club leaders to be present. This activity is supported by the Susan Sylstra and Jack Proctor Memorial Fund. Your donations are appreciated.
