The Bob Bittner Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Bob Bittner by annually awarding scholarships to graduate students at the University of California, Davis. The scholarships recognize research interests and academic excellence in pursuit of fisheries biology and/or riparian or aquatic ecology.

Past Bittner winners presented their research at a meeting of California-Nevada Chapter of American Fisheries Society, February 2026, Chico ,CA (L-R) Kelly Goedde-Matthews, Mollie Ogaz, Brandi Goss, Anna Steel
This scholarship was established in 1990 by a Bittner Family donation to California Fly Fishers Unlimited (CFFU). Each year, CFFU allocates a significant scholarship amount to be awarded to the winning applicant. In 2010 and 2011 the scholarship was enhanced with generous donations from. Joe and Barbara Bania.  Recognizing that scholarships are important and meaningful to many students the CFFU Conservation Committee has added funding to support additional scholarship awards.  Donations to enhance the scholarships are greatly appreciated.

CFFU is a non-profit organization serving the Sacramento area. Since its inception in 1962, the club promotes increased awareness and participation in the art of fly fishing. CFFU supports education and the conservation of aquatic resources in California and the west.
