The Bob Bittner Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Bob Bittner by awarding to a student(s) of the University of California, Davis, an annual scholarship(s) which recognizes a research interest and general excellence in the academic pursuit of fisheries biology and/or riparian or limnetic ecology benefiting recreational fisheries for the State of California.

It was established in 1990 by a Bittner Family donation to California Fly Fishers Unlimited (CFFU). CFFU adds a generous donation to this scholarship each year. In 2010 and 2011 the scholarship was enhanced with a donation from Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bania.  These donations are great appreciated.

CFFU is a non-profit community organization serving Sacramento areas. Since its inception in 1962, the club's objective is to promote increased awareness and participation in the art of fly fishing. CFFU is dedicated to the education and preservation necessary to preserve California's aquatic resources.
