  FLY FISHING 101
This class will be offered  from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Location: Northminster Church (Social Hall, 3235 Pope Ave., Sacramento).

This two-part class for new fly fishers includes: selecting the proper fly rod and reel, essential knots, rigging the fly rod, selecting flies, safety, equipment and accessories. Participants bring their fly rod and reel, leader material and tippet material to the first session. If you do not yet own a rod, let us know. We will provide you with a loaner rod and reel. CASTING CLINIC and MENTOR OUTING
 
After a discussion of the mechanics of casting line, participants practice on the lawn. Our instructors are here to help you learn and practice the techniques. Bring your rod, reel and a leader. If you do not yet own a rod, let us know. We will provide you with a loaner rod. ​The mentor outing immediately follows the casting clinic. This is a chance to combine all the skills you have learned so far.

 Practice casting and fishing on the water. This outing covers additional skills such as: locating fish, setting the hook, stripping line, playing a fish, netting and safely releasing fish.
