The annual dinner is one of CFFU's few money raising events. Donations of equipment and supplies for raffles, auctions and door prizes are received from supporters of CFFU's objective -- to promote increase awareness and participation in the art of fly fishing and preservation of our resources.
The CFFU 2019 Annual Dinner and Fundraiser was held at the California Auto Museum in November. Although the dinner officially starts at 3:30, members can come early to browse the auto displays. At the Welcome Table, Carl Lang will greet all our members and guests and hands out name badges. Betty Pfeifer will provide an amazing spread of complementary appetizers and Tim Au-Young will have the no-host bar open. Rich and Jim Berdan sell raffle tickets under the pop-up tent. You can buy raffle tickets and start bidding on the silent auction items immediately.
Dress is casual. Men traditionally wear anything from nice fishing shirts and good jeans to suits. Women wear anything from nice jeans to dresses. Bring a sweater or light jacket. Although the museum is a warehouse you would never know it! Meloney Welborn coordinates the table decorations. Ken Davis displays the CFFU Year in Review slide show on the big screen. The side room and stage are filled with raffle and silent auction items. The terrific committee transforms the warehouse area into a warm inviting room, full of holiday spirit!
Buffet style dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. It includes tri-tip, chicken, roasted potatoes, salad, rolls, seasonal vegetables, cooked onsite and served by the Buckhorn staff (a vegetarian option is available). Coffee and cake follow for dessert. Rob Scafe is our emcee and professional auctioneer Justin Trick runs our live auction.
