REPORT FOR THE FALL TRIP ON THE TRINITY RIVER, NOVEMBER 9 & 10, 2011 The Trinity River Outing is in the book for 2011 and what a trip it was. Most of us met at the Indian Creek Lodge in Douglas City on Tuesday. The group included Jeff Howard, Dave Zook, Jim Berdan, Randy Weatherland, Phil Shipley, John & Earlene Coldiron, and Joe Puglisi, the rest of the group, Lucy Badenhoop, Dave Earl, John Da Roza and Howard Ross were staying at other locations. The guides showed up the first morning ready to go, and off we went, to different locations on the river. Everyone hooked fish and landed fish, some more then others, Jeff. Seven people reported landing sixteen total Steelhead. I understand the people that did not report, caught fish as well. I enjoyed playing cameraman for Phil Shipley the first day who landed two very nice Steelies. Jeff Howard and I managed to hook a Salmon in addition to Steelhead, Jeff's guide was able to land his fish, my guide was not able to net my fish when I got it to the boat saying, it was to big to fit his net, approx. 35 Lbs, so he said, break it off, Phil and I just looked at each other shaking our head's, but I managed to stay in control. Jim Berdan and Randy Weatherland's guide's vehicle broke down, so they were unable to fish the first day on a boat and were forced to wade without a lot of success, (sorry guys), but they made up for it the next day, Jim landed two, a seven and nine pounder. The trip was a great success, the weather was great, no rain, a little breezy at times and a little chilly. Everyone hooked and landed fish to my knowledge as the pictures will attest, and the camaraderie made it a lot of fun. We will be sure to put this outing on the list for next year. .
