CFFU BEGINNING FLY FISHING CLASS
with RIO AMERICANO HIGH SCHOOL

About 2 months ago a neighbor, Mike Smith and I were talking Fly Fishing. He is a teacher, former Head Football Coach at Rio Americano High School . He informed that he had a Fly Fishing Club of 40 students that meet once a month. He asked if our Club could help with Fly Tying and Casting. I contacted Gary Howard, Youth Director, and he said O.K.
      After taking care of dates and logistics we did a Program of Tying and Casting . This happened last Tuesday morning. Gary showed a 20 minute DVD on the life of a trout. The kids broke up into 2 groups for casting and tying. Every student tied a Black Woolly Bugger and had casting instruction. Some even learned to Double Haul. The students were great, both attentive and interested. The girls may have been the better tiers. Mike was in control and everything was well organized. He hopes we can do it again next year.
     The volunteer responce was outstanding and were great teachers. The following people participated.      I hope I got everyone. Thank you all for helping. That's why we have a great club.
