t's been another busy month for C.F.F.U. highlighted by The International Sport Show. A big THANK YOU to all of the members that volunteered their time to work the booth. I worked it on Friday afternoon and moved to the Youth Fair tying flies. While I was tying, RICH WILSON called me to tell me he had just signed up our 300th member, a family membership.
I want to Thanks to RICH WILSON and GARY HOWARD for their hard work setting up the membership booth and organizing the fly tying at the youth fair. Their dedication to the club is a great example for all. They always go the extra mile for the club while expecting nothing in return.
I attended the first basic fly tying class on 1-24-2012 taught by JOHN DANIELS. I was the second assistant helper responsible for dropping glass beads and hooks while trying to distribute them to the class. JIM BERDAN was also there to help teach. Both JOHN and JIM have a great demeanor and it was very clear that they both have a lot to offer to the new tiers.
DAVE LITTLE has contacted me with a project involving CASTING FOR RECOVERY. This is a group that takes ladies who are cancer survivors or currently undergoing treatment on an outing introducing them to fly fishing. The group is in need of flies for the ladies to use during the outing. Dave has contacted them and is working to get a list of flies that they need. Once their needs are identified, Dave and I will be sponsoring a Fly Tying Day to produce as many flies as possible to donate to CASTING FOR RECOVERY. This may turn out to be a continuing effort to support a very meaningful project. Dave or I will keep you up to date.
