OUTING REPORT
BY Jeff Howard

The weather was great yesterday for the 3rd of December; that never helps the fishing though.
The morning started off cool as most us met at the Browns Valley turnoff. A couple of our members tried to help a lady that had a flat tire; but she had no jack and ours were too tall for her car. Thanks Bill & Case for trying!
We all hit the water and the wind started. I should say breeze really; but it was enough to hinder casting. Wayne C, Chuck & I gave a short clinic on set-up and nymphing. Bill Montalvo, James Boes, Craig McCulloch & Michael Wall
attended. The breeze moved the casts 8 feet upstream farther than you wanted at times. So that was fun; just a little stripping before the mending & extra work for fairly new stream fishermen.
After the clinic it was time to get to the feast prep. It was quite the Feast too. We always have too much but I think we all enjoyed ourselves. The good food, recent fishing adventures (fish talk), and good people is what makes this outing a hit to most members; it is certainly not the fish #'s.
Speaking of #'s ; you had to be lucky yesterday. The water was very clear
and very low. Fishing the Yuba can be tough to trick those PEA Brains sometimes and the low water makes it even tougher.
Wayne Wato - two fish 12-14 , copper john & rubber leg
Sam Yee -1 fish (John's) LOL 16 egg
      Tim Au-Young- 1 fish 14 Olive Leech
Bob Hansen- 1 fish 12- rubber leg
      Wayne Chubb- 1 fish 15-egg
      James Boes - 1 fish 14- adams
Mike Churchill- 1 fish 6 -soft hackle
     I (Jeff Howard) got 3 of 4 -2 18 to 19 & 1 16- mercers poxy back,S&M, & micro spawn
Those were the reports I had written down. Some left before we got back and may have not put them down on my clip board before leaving?    Wayne Wato got the BIG CATCH of the day; a 60 $ stripping basket that we all saw escaping Mike upstream from the picnic area above. I tried members on the radio as Wayne took off down stream. With no response and watching the basket versus Wayne's position, we thought it was long gone. I don't know how he caught it but, good job Wayne!!!    We all had a great day on the water and the wind could have been like Wednesday's; so we should thank Moma Nature for that!!    Thanks everyone for your help with great food !!!!
