HIGH HILL RANCH POND

OUTING REPORT
By Glenn Yee
We had 19 flyfishers come out and play.  They were Gary Howard, Bill Montalvo, Paul Bauldry, Dick Angus, Mike Okizaki, Craig Williams, John Coldiron, Rich Beck, Antonio Moreno, Craig McCulloch and friend, Steve, Meloney Welborn, Brandie Herron, Frank Nobles, Jeff Howard and his friend, Alex, Paul & Laurie Wisheropp, Jim Simon.  Most everyone caught at least one fish. Most of the action was before lunch.  I think Frank caught the biggest up to 3 pounds.
Six people showed up at Denny's and had a great breakfast and some comradeship. Then we headed up to High Hill pond. Traffic wasn't as light as I thought; I forgot it was Martin Luther King  holiday weekend. When we got there at the pond about 9 a.m., some of the fly fishers had hook ups. In the morning the action was steady until we had lunch. Then, the action slowed down. I was surprised to see so many people come out and play -- 19 plus a few young ones that were also were holding onto a fishing rod. One little girl had a fish on. Someone always catches a fish on the other side, and I've a hard time running over there to take a picture. Any way I managed to take three photos. Two members were beginners to our sport. Thanks Gary for bringing the stove and thank you Bill for cooking the hot dogs, Ross for buying the dogs, chips, and drinks. Thank you Carl for bringing the coffee and donuts, Thank you Brandie for bringing the paper plates, napkins, and plastic forks, Thank you Meloney for bringing the brownie cake.

Someone left behind a green thermos. Carl will bring it to next meeting, But if you want it sooner give Carl Lang a call.

DIRECTIONS:  Take Highway 50 east, go past Placerville and travel about 5 more miles until you see Carson Road, then make a left turn and turn left at the T junction, travel about 1/4 mile to High Hill Ranch on the right.  Turn into driveway and pond is on the right.  Park at pond.
