CFFU ANNUAL FLY FISHING CLINIC REPORT
by Tim Landrus

The morning of May 7th started early with me arriving at Channel 31 in West Sacramento at 6:30am for my television debut. I taped a short 5 min. presentation on fly fishing, promoting both the club and the Fly Fishing Clinic. It is rumored that I am up for an Emmy for giving the best impersonation of a fly fisherman.
I arrived at Camp Pollock at about 8:00 a.m. to find everything set-up and ready to go (good timing huh!) Members had chipped in and cleaned the porch and sidewalk, made sure the lawn was mowed for the fly casting (Thanks Ranger Gary) and even helped move a tree that had fallen down. As usual, members stepped up to take care of business and I can't thank them enough.
John Mott did a great job of organizing the vendors. A lot of good deals were made at the swap meet. I bought yet more fly tying materials from Gary Howard that I will eventually need. Thanks to Gary for donating the proceeds from his sales to our Youth Programs.
As usual, Rich Wilson did an excellent job of signing up new members with a total of 50% of the public attending the event becoming new members. Welcome to the 5 new members to CFFU.
Chefs Beth Ison and Jack Harris along with cashier Carl Lang served a sumptuous lunch of grilled hot dogs with all the fixin's
.
Probably the most popular events for both members and guests were the casting clinic and fly tying. Forrest Oldham, Richard Camacho and Ken Geisser put on the casting clinic and were busy most of the day. Both members and guests benefited from their expertise. The fly tying presented by Earlene Coldiron with assistance from Brandi Heron, Robert Rountree and Bob Bettati was very popular with the guests. Several kids left with their very first Wooly Bugger.
I want to thank all of the Co-Chairman who helped make the event a success: Earlene Coldiron, John Coldiron, Bob Larne, Carl Lang, Craig McCulloch, Forrest Oldham, Richard Camacho, Ken Geisser, John Mott and Rich Wilson. I also want to thank all of the volunteers that gave their time to make the event a success.
