CFFU OUTING

OUTING REPORT
By Chuck Honeycutt

What a great day for frivolous fly fishing, fantastic food and fabulous friendship with fellow fly fishers! Last Saturday 15 CFFUer's met at the Comanche Lake trout pond for a wonderful day of lake fishing and camaraderie. Comanche Lake is owned by the East Bay Municipal Utilities District (or EBMUD - Contra Costa County) and stocked regularly with trout up to 4 pounds. Fishing was slow in the morning and improved throughout the day (which is very typical for the Comanche Lake trout pond). Almost every participant caught at least one trout and many people caught 3 or more. The trout measured from 14 inches to 22 inches --- with an average length of 16 inches --- Not too shabby for a local winter trout pond! Of course, Dell Clark caught the most trout, and probably the biggest one too! Lunch consisted of deli sandwiches, chips, fruit and homemade brownies plus your beverage of choice and great conversation. Considering that it was early March, the weather could not have been better: mid 60's with blue skies in the afternoon and no wind. This is at least the second consecutive year that we have had a very successful March outing to Comanche Lake --- so plan to attend next year --- and join the fun.
